Can I walk here?

Terms of use

Not legal advice

This site reports what Natural England's open data shows, in plain English. It is not legal advice and it is not the legal register of common land, which each registration authority holds. Where it matters, such as a dispute over access or a question about property, check the register with the council and get advice from a qualified professional.

How accurate the answers are

Answers come from the sources listed on the sources page and are only as complete and current as those sources. Land inside access land can stay private (buildings, gardens, crops), access can be closed or restricted for a time, and notes about a walk describe it as someone found it on the day. Always check closures and signs on the ground. We correct mistakes when we find them, but we cannot promise the site is error-free or always available.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, this site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
